Evie's new hair-do

Last Thursday Evie & I got haircuts from the lovely Judy. I just had a trim to tidy up, but Evie woke up that day & decided that she wanted short hair. You have to understand that Evie is a long-hair rapunzel type of girl everything is princesses, ballerinas, rainbows & butterflies. Evie & I talked alot about short hair that morning and looked at pictures on the internet, I was so proud of her that she followed through.

I can't believe how long her hair was!

Awww, what a cutie!

Evie & I both love her shorter do (I'll have to get a good pic for you) & she thankfully hasn't had any regrets. It's much easier to take care of, Dex can't grab it as easily & it never looks ratty!

Olympic fever

Evie's Olympic Rings!

We've been getting into the Olympic spirit here, like everyone else I'm sure. In general we're not 'sport' people at all - there's no sport we enjoy watching or participating in! Having a four year old in the house certainly makes sport more exciting!

On Saturday morning we watched the opening ceremony together. Evie drew pictures to hang in the lounge room & decorated with balloons, a table-cloth on the coffee table & fancy serviettes. I served these oatmeal pancakes with maple syrup, bacon & stewed rhubarb - delish!

How have you celebrated & enjoyed the Olympics in your household so far?

Dex is five months

I thought I'd better update you on Dex's growth before he hits six months!!

Dexter is an absolute pleasure. He's such an easy, go-with-the-flow type of guy. Full of smiles, 'talking' and giggles. There is nothing like the grin he gives me on waking up in the morning!

Dex has started solids in the past few weeks & he really loves his food, typical boy I suppose. He is yet to roll from his back onto his front, but seems to be getting close (Evie did this at 5 1/2 months)

Here's a couple of lovely pics Roger took on our SLR during lunch time:

Baha! These two kiddies crack me up! These are seriously the best shots I could get of them together, at least they kind of co-operated!

Girl date

Evie & I enjoyed a 'girl date' last week, it was awesome! My parents looked after Dexter for the morning & thankfully he was an angel for them!

Evie & I wore matching clothes; dresses, tights, and out best coats. We spent time browsing in nice shops, enjoyed a relaxed morning tea & giggled alot. I love this girl so much! In the business of day-to-day I can forget the pure joy of hanging out together & holding that warm little hand in mine.

Carpark self-portrait, pity we forgot our lipstick!

Evie & her beloved Penny, after enjoying a delicious hot chocolate

Evie took this one, slightly blurry but not bad!

Yes, dancing with your own reflection is hilarious!

Ha, she just would not pose like a normal person!!

some vitals:
Evie's coat is vintage, bought from Frecklewonder for last winter, I'm so glad it still fits!
Evie's gloves in the last pic are actually mine, from Sandra Juto

Yawn...

Are you all feeling as tired as me? (Generally I mean, not right now, because I am aware that I'm posting this at midnight!)

I don't want to be one of those people that has children & then complains about their lack of sleep. I get it. I chose to have children, was lucky enough to have them & they make me tired - deal with it.

I was thinking today that I always feel tired. I never wake up feeling refreshed, or spend a day feeling at my best. I just feel varying degrees of tired. Is everyone else feeling this too?

Please enlighten me; is it my age? my lifestyle? my destiny?

ps - Evie's favourite excuse for not doing things is because she is 'sooo tired'. This morning I may have snapped back, 'so's the rest of the world, get over it' ha!

Dexter & food

We decided to give Dexter his first taste of solids on the weekend (he is almost five months!). He's such a cute little thing & I loved the faces he made as he tried the rice cereal, adorable! He started out in the high chair & ended up on Roger's lap.

Snotty days

Evie & I are just getting over a another batch of colds - so gross & tiring, thankfully Roger & Dex have been exempt from this one!!

Evie is sick but smiley. She is somehow still bubbly & happy when sick, & has thankfully been happy to play on her own alot. (She is watching Finding Nemo as I type this, a nice little break for me!)

Dexter has been the only one napping, which I'm envious of! I really hope he doesn't catch this cold, it's super hard not to kiss him though!!

Evie has been perfecting her hammerhead shark drawing. I really love it! Can you see his hammerhead with eyes, sharp teeth & two fins??

Evie also painted the outline of her hand (and much of her hand), I thought it was a good effort!

Here's the baby & I in our home dags (with birthday bunting in the background).

Hope you're all keeping well!!
