Lets hear it for the boy...

We had our 20 week scan this morning & found out that we're having a boy!! (and he's healthy & strong!). Very excited, but nervous about this news. I come from a family of sisters, I don't know what to do with a boy, they're a bit foreign to me! Here's some Pinterest found inspiration to get me started:

Happy chooks

Our chook house is finished! We're yet to complete the permanent yard (at the moment it's a temporary one) and we're going to plant a dwarf mulberry in the yard to add some shade & character. The chooks are so much happier & cleaner now, here's hoping they get back on the lay!

Ballet girl

Evie has her first ballet class this morning, I think we're all a bit excited about it. Evie has been talking about ballet for months, she is fuelled by her love of pink, tutus & Angelina Ballerina. I'm anticipating hyperactivity & cuteness, I'll let you know how it goes.

Some things I've made lately

What a self-explanatory title!

- this is Ruffulus Tuffulus (named by Evie, spelling unknown!) In an effort to keep Evie in bed at night we've been sending her off with a heated wheat bag this winter, works great! I thought it was about time she had her own & came up with this one (which I'm quite proud of). It was practically free, the corduroy I already had at home, and it is filled with dried lavender & wheat kernels (some of my dad's chook food!)

(ha! don't know if you picked up on the vibe that Evie didn't feel like posing!)

- In the process of cleaning out my sewing room I found half a t-shirt (cut up for another project) and the bottom of my sisters dress that she shortened (already hemmed). I sewed them together & tada, a new dress! Evie wasn't convinced at first because it's not pink, but some twirling sorted that out. It is now her 'most beautiful, beautiful twirling dress'! can't ask for a better description!

(once again the only pic I could snap, not in a photo mood!)

- I've been sewing this one for over 6 months, I popped it away when I got stuck on something & didn't pick it up for a while. Anyway, it is now finished! (and needs some adjusting because she's grown so much!) It's a short overall/playsuit pattern from the 60's & is so adorable.

- I also sewed myself a pair of knickers, but I'll save you from the visuals on that (definitely not sexy!) But the material & elastic were free (from my mum's stash) so I love them! (comfiest ever!)

What have you been creating??

A new desk

With a baby on the way our house is undergoing some major sorting out & reorganising. My sewing room will become the new babies room (boohoo for me!). My awesome husband has built (!) me a desk in our built-in-robe. Here's a shot of the building in progress:

The desk was completed at the beginning of August & I've already happily sewn a few projects in my new nook. I love it! (I also love that I can close a door on a bit of mess!)

ha! I love my little superhero helper

Baby bump

I finally got Rog to take a photo of me & my baby bump, so here it is at 17 weeks:

*Note to self, look happier & less tired for next photo!!

By the way, here is a photo of me at 17 weeks when I was pregnant with Evie!

Those tummy muscles sure remember & get bigger earlier. I can't help but think, if I'm this big already, where is it going to end! And yes, there's only one baby in there!

Packages!

Evie & I were so excited to receive two packages in the mail yesterday, hooray! It felt like Christmas!

I know I've shared with you before my love of sandals (ha, yes, I'm really that lame!) Anyway, I succumbed and bought a pair for Evie & myself, vintage Saltwater Sandals from Pure Vintage Clothing on etsy. I've read really good reviews on the quality of these sandals, and I'm so impressed that these second-hand pairs are almost brand new in quality (and so much cheaper than buying new!) Yes, I'm quite excited! I measured Evie's feet a little wrong & hers are way too huge, so I might have snuck back online to order a slightly smaller (and more purple) pair!

I don't know if you remember that I won this outfit recently, it is sooo cute! Evie loves it, and hasn't wanted to take it off. The t-shirt & shorts seem to be really good quality & comfy too. This pose of Evies is called the 'monster plant', long story, but it makes me laugh!

Have you had any good packages or mail lately?

Snapshots of a productive weekend

Roger found an old organiser that still works and he's given it to Evie, she loves her new 'laptop'! She loves to sit with us & we all 'work' on our computers. Saturday morning before breakfast she tucked herself in on the lounge to play with her laptop. Evie loves typing her name & making up 'funny' numbers!

Yesterday we got a big delivery of lovely soil for our raised garden beds (you might remember we built these beds back in March, but have only now filled them!) My folks came over & helped us move the dirt. Evie used a little wheelbarrow, from when my dad was a boy, and 'helped' alot! (You might notice that I'm not working in any pictures, I find that being 16 weeks pregnant is the best excuse!!)

Today is chook house day! Rog & his dad are building the new house for our chookies!! Evie & I are in charge of food supplies (homemade biscuits & pizza) and staying out of the way!

Have you been productive this weekend?

Aaah spring!

I don't know about anyone else, but spring feels like coming back to life for me!
Today I'm looking forward to watering the garden, hanging up some washing, warming in the sun & maybe a trip to the beach with Evie.

I found some pics of springtime three years ago, Evie's first trip to the beach, what a little munchkin!
