Some lovely links - 1

I was going to show you photos of Evie's new room, but the camera batteries ran out partway through, I'll have to wait till Rog comes home to re-charge them for me (lame, I know!).

Instead here are some lovely links:

A divine dollhouse on Hilda Grahnat

A flirty dress found on Shop Mamie

A print deal in the Fine Little Shop - how cute are the Apple & Pear prints, I would love them in our house!

Lovely Lamps

I wish I had cash to splash on these lovely lamps (discovered in the online Lark shop). They are really just too adorable!!

There really are a million nice things I'm loving at this shop

2. Sweet Tablecloth: so Scandi!

3. Feltcraft Dolly Kit - Princess Lola: Evie would love her!

Trip to Wonderland

Ok, so maybe 'wonderland' is Ikea, it's pretty awesome! I went with Evie and my folks for a couple of browsing hours and lunch. Have you had a kids lunch? Evie loves it. $4 gets her a cheese sandwich, yoghurt, meusli bar, fruit bar, popcorn and a finger puppet!! I know I'm gushing, but it's so cool.

Also, I won a competition on Kickcan & Conkers (a really cool blog) and I get a copy of the new Papier Mache magazine!! It looks a bit like a 'Frankie' for kids stuff, I can't wait for a leisurely read with a cuppa, totally awesome!!

- I can't believe what's been going on in New Zealand, so devastating.

Always Monday Morning!

The beginning of another week. The weekend seems so fly by so quickly and suddenly its Monday morning again! Time for grocery shopping and a visit to the library - exciting stuff!!

Rog almost finished painting Evie's new room over the weekend with our new 'eco paint', it looks great! We broke the news to Evie about a room change and thankfully she's excited about it, rather than freaking out!

Here are some great links to make this Monday morning a bit more inspiring! (rather than me at the kitchen table in my pj's with morning hair!!):

- Love this Glee/Sartorialist moment

- Evie would just adore this dress!!

- Now this lamp would cheer up a room!

- Oh to actually be Scandinavian and dress your child in this!

Rainy Day Cake

It's supposed to be the hottest part of summer - today? 24C and rained all day!! We've had such a lovely day! Sometimes being forced to stay home is good. I've finally put away a few piles of clean laundry, done the dishes and just hung out with my girl.

We've had this book from the library the past couple of weeks, and Evie loves it (she also loves that the little girl looks like her, although Evie's hair is 'very long'!). Today we finally made a chocolate cake together (the recipe is in the back of the book - ours came out dry, not sure if its the recipe or my oven).

I had such a good helper - she loved mixing, cracking eggs and especially licking the bowl!!

ps - made these banana oat muffins the other day - really tasty sliced with plum jam, yum!

Cushion Fetish

I think I might have a thing for cushions, here are the ones currently in our lounge room:

1. Made by me from some cute Japanese cotton
2. Thrifted (with new filling)
3. Thrifted & re-made by me.

Can I just say that I love these cushions. I love their unique-ness and the blue that somehow makes them match! (it's the same blue of my new vintage footrest that I'm enjoying right now!) I do dream of adding to my cushion collection though. The problem is that now I have found ones I love for such a good price (ie, thrifted & homemade) I can't bear to throw cash at any, even these really lovely ones!!

Valentines Love

Ok, so for starters, I'm not really into Valentines (neither is Rog) it's not something that we really celebrate. But we did go to an awesome gig last night though (with my bro-in-law too). Phoenix!!! If you don't know this French band you need to investigate them now! So much to love - sweet melodies, awesome light show, lovely french-ness, dancing, rock & roll!!

In my blogs over the last couple of days I have come across some lovely Valentine's posts to share:

- A lovely post & card from A Cup of Jo

- Beautiful cards on Calico & Co

- Gorgeous artsy displays on All the Luck in the World

- Scrummy macaroon recipe on Honest Fare

- Heart-warming post on love in Paris from The Lark

Blah

I've come down with Evie's cold (mega sore throat) - I can't believe she's been feeling like this!! While Rog & Evie are out today I'm going to have a pity party involving slippers, toast & Glee - ah, just the tonic.

So, no energy for a detailed post today, you'll have to make do with this photo of 'flowers' that Evie's little friend Lachlan made for her the other day - adorable!! (and I love the potato!)

Painting Arvo

I read on petitelefant last week about homemade sidewalk paint, and it was a hit here! It was really easy to make (with stuff from the pantry) and of course it had to be pink. This paint gave Evie 20 minutes of entertainment, and me 20 minutes of quiet!
ps - I love that cheeky face!

Happy Little Vegemites!

My friend Jane taught Evie the phrase 'Happy Little Vegemites' last week - and she thinks it is just hilarious! She loves to yell it out randomly and run off laughing. I showed her a video of the old ad (from the 50's) and she loves it (now affectionately called 'the stomping new vegemite one').

Hope you'll enjoy it too, and if you're an Aussie it will definitely bring back memories!

From Scandinavia With Love

This picture feels like a breath of fresh air to me. I love the quilt - so cheery! The white walls and floor are so clean and light. The artwork, the lamp.. etc!

I just know that if it was my place there would be clothes on the floor (and dust swept under the bed), but I can dream!

Sandal Love

I've been totally crushing on a pair of Saltwater Sandals since seeing them on Little Pinwheel. They look so comfy & cruisy - I think they would make me smile. (I just can't justify the purchase right now, or make up my mind about colours!).

Today I spotted this pair of Criss Cross Sandals on wikstenmade (a blog I've just discovered!) and I'm in love. Half price! If only they had my size!!

A little peek

The other day I blogged about 'eco-paint', I have since discovered Ecolour, an Australian paint with no VOCs or other toxins. This water-based paint is made from recycled and re-refined waste engine oil - sounds pretty cool! Seems to have good reviews, has anyone tried it?

I took a couple of photos of Evie's current room to show you. I know they're a bit dark and not great photos - apologies! Please also keep in mind that this was mid-play, so there was no tidying or styling!

Evie is such a girly girl, note the pile of dress-ups (mostly princess, fairy, ballet or wedding related!).

The chest of drawers was turned upside down when it was her change-table (handy!). The umbrella was a Christmas present from Auntie Megan. She loves having music in her room during quiet time, and being such a 'buttons' girl knows how to work the cd player herself!

Here is the unwilling participant herself! The Sesame Street pillowcase used to be Roger's when he was little (with matching bedspread) she loves it! The large painting on her left was by Auntie Megan when Evie was born.

On her wall we have (clockwise from top):
Framed record of 1970's classic 'Evie' by Stevie Wright (given by Uncle Andrew)
Art print from Printspace (from us for Evie's 2nd Birthday)
Belle & Boo Print from Indie Fixx (free art!)
'Love is Homegrown' cross-stitch from an op-shop
'Can't fight the moonlight' canvas from Urchin (from Nannie & Poppie)
Barn shelves (love!) from an op-shop filled with Evie's toys

Lavender Sachets

For a friends recent birthday I made a lavender sachet to hang in her wardrobe.

I got the idea from Kleas, where she made lavender sachets from left-over ribbon and trim. They look gorgeous!

The ribbon I had at home wasn't very wide, so I used the felt to make a larger sachet, and therefore make it more lavenderish.

Happy to report that I gave it to my friend this morning and she likes it :)

Little Evangeline Boho Cardi

How cute is this little cardi - I wish Evie needed more clothes!!
