Parenting with style

Yesterday I came across an interesting article (via Nonchalant Mum) about parenting. It's an article in the Wall Street Journal entitled 'Why Chinese Mothers are Superior'. I won't get into the 'rights' and 'wrongs' of parenting styles, but I would like to say that this article made me think. I felt confronted about letting children slide into mediocrity and laziness to protect their self-esteem rather than pushing them to excel and persevere.
